After months of preparation the Profile at FashionExpo event took place at the Business Design Centre in Islington yesterday and what a resounding success it was!

The venue was spectacular, the designers and manufacturers highly talented and the atmosphere electric. There was a fantastic energy as the exhibitors networked with a whole host of retailers, buyers and press and with representatives from high street giants Debenhams, Hobbs and Topshop all on the scout for the next big name in fashion everyone knew this could be their big chance.

The gala in the evening was presented by British supermodel Laura Bailey and the Profile Fashion Show by Rah Productions was truly spectacular, showing off the exquisite collections to their highest potential. The retailers then took to the stage each announcing their chosen winner:

Well done to the winners and to all the exhibitors. Here's what they had to say:

Credau - Debenhams winner

‘I am so pleased I won the Debenhams award for menswear. I really was running out of steam with my lable and this is exactly what I needed. The standard of menswear designers was really high and the Debenhams team paid a lot of attention to my stand, studying the product very closely. The event as a whole was so professional and I was very impressed. The fashion show was fantastic with both the chorography and the styling and really showed my designs off well. I had great networking opportunities, meeting people I would never have the opportunity to otherwise. All in all very positive!'

J and R Designs - Hobbs winner

'I'm really pleased with the whole day and meeting the Hobbs team. The overall atmosphere was very business focussed and everyone there seemed ready and willing to do business. I think it was better as a one day event. It was a good day and a great night and I am so grateful for my award.'

Larisa Judina - Topshop winner

'Larisa Judina is extremely thankful for this great appraisal. Winning the Topshop award for Excellence in a Sampling Unit really is a wonderful achievement for us. We now have a great challenge on our hands to work even harder and to remain at this high level and to reach new goals.

Isabella Galuschka, Editor of WomensWear Buyer, media sponsors

‘There's such a high standard of design this year and the shows had a great buzz about it all day. The catwalk was great and showed off all the clothes so well. Also we've had a great level of interest, we've almost run out of our magazine WWB and we brought 500 copies with us! It's been a very worthwhile day.'

Exhibiting at Fashion Expo with Profile is important for any emerging designer because it is the only platform in London that gives us the opportunity to exhibit between Graduate Fashion Week and London Fashion Week.'

The Workshop - Herve Andrieu

‘We've had a lot of people on the stand and we are very happy with the level of interest people have shown in our products and services. We've met many clients today who thought they couldn't afford the use of our technology, even though we work with a lot of small and medium sized companies.'

Tennovay* - Emma Gorton

‘It's been manic getting read for Profile at Fashion Expo as I only found out about the event recently, but it's been very new and exciting. I'm really looking forward to seeing my bags on the catwalk. Profile at Fashion Expo is a really fantastic opportunity to meet buyers who would be really hard to contact otherwise.'

FashionExpo was a unique collaboration that brought together a wide cross section of business support organisations. City Fringe Partnership coordinated and financed the event and our grateful appreciation is extended to both CFP and also to Chain of Events for managing the event so successfully.
