It's a busy week at the Workshop! Today Fashion Enter hosted a meeting at the Council Civic Centre for all Haringey Guarantee Providers and local employers to enlighten attendees of the benefits of taking on work placements having gone through the Stitch in Time programme as well as other work placement opportunities available for students to embark on to enter the world of work. The Cypriot Weekly Newspaper was in attendance and the event will be featured in the next edition of the paper, to go to print tomorrow, images will follow shortly. "The meeting held today was very successful, the attendance was good and presentation was excellent. Everyone in attendance is now aware of the Stitch in Time programme and how Fashion Enter perform. This is a very exciting scheme and I believe that young people in Haringey who are unemployed and looking to start a new career can benefit hugely." Michael Chambi, Florentia Clothing Village Director. "It was good to see such a wide spectrum of interest in the project - from other training providers to supplies such as Jaeger! It was especially gratifying to hear from a participant in the Stitch in Time programme how it had benefited her." Geoff Hollett Theme Manager Education, Employment and Enterprise, The Bridge NDC "Meeting other Haringey Guarantee Providers today to explain my situation of transitioning from unemployment for over 5 years, having been assisted through the Stitch in Time course and carried out a work placement at the Workshop, now to be employed full time was an emotional journey for me but I would not have been given this opportunity to launch my career without the help of Fashion Enter." Sevim Ozturk, ex Stitch in Time participant and current pattern cutter of Fashion Enter. The meeting was a true success and both Providers and employers in attendance were extremely impressed with both the scope of teaching that occurs in the Workshop, by covering all aspects of careers in the fashion industry and the engagement with Jaeger and Aquascutum, of whom a representative attended, who we thank greatly for all their support, involvement and presence today and in the Stitch in Time programme. |
