Mary Katrantzou is a print and textiles expert. This was made obvious by the luxurious, flamboyant detailing in her collection.

Staying in trend with silhouette, Katrantzou’s dresses were mid length with exaggerated shoulders and a few tulip skirts. The tailoring of the skirts was exquisite and complemented the swirling opulent prints used. There were many gorgeous asymmetric elements thrown in with ruffled trains, sparkling chokers dripping down one side of the neckline and jutting shoulders and sleeves.

The inspiration for the collection came from the life of luxury and excess in the French Colonial Empire and this was obvious in the prints and especially when the models were rolled out encrusted with gold detailing and beading.

The prints and exciting shapes enabled the colour palette to rove with range peacock blues, baby pinks, deep purples and flashes of golden oranges and yellows.

The innovation with colour and style shown here is what London Fashion Week is all about.
