The Wanted – Their Style

With our fcMenswears ‘Style’ Reporter off on The Wanted’s Uk Tour we thought it would be fitting to write an article on their style. The boys (Tom, Siva, Max, Jay and Nathan) have just had a no.1 single with Gold Forever (The Official Comic Relief Track) and are taking the UK by storm!

As a group The Wanted have a very distinct style – I would describe it as Rural Urban. It’s an even mixture usually hard fabrics distressed and worn-in to give a natural appearance and clean lines but using fabrics that hang on the body just right that they don’t wear the wearer. The grey and black in the photo above give a great mixture of hard and soft. Overall the boys have a Rural City Slicker vibe to their attire.

 A mixture of simple but well cut classics accompanied by some military or a vintage leather jacket looks expensive but has a really humble tone to it. How The Wanted and a lot of boys today are playing with masculinity is also very apparent in the photo above. These garments are all still very masculine without being overloaded with testosterone. In most of their music videos they are out on the street and in the dirty which complements the worn look of their clothes.

When it comes to a formal look for the band they still like to keep the lines clean and the fabrics loose but adding a shirt with nice detailing or simple but effective tailored jacket. Their outfits all compliment each other’s without it looking like they are all wearing the same as each other.

Overall The Wanted’s style is very current and is giving 18-25 year olds a new way of being masculine but still looking good. I hope Luke (fcMenswears ‘Style’ Reporter) is having a ball on tour with The Wanted and we can’t wait to have him back!
