Mod is Back - It was only last week that I saw Rowan Joffe's new film, Brighton Rock. Immediately I feel in love again

In the years I have studied and worked within the fashion industry I have realised that we as a culture like to recycle and reuse trends a great deal.  Every now and then we repeat a trend but instead of reusing the garments that we have purchased before, we are persuaded by design houses and the high street to fill our wardrobe up with new clothes. The next season comes and the same designers convince everyone to give up their allegiance to the old designs and spend their money on the latest collections. I say we make a stand against this and fight for a green fashion world in which we recycle and reuse old garments as much as possible. We should utilise the fact that in London we are very fashionable and generous and quite often find ourselves donating all our old and ‘unfashionable’ clothes to charity shops.

It was only last week that I saw Rowan Joffe's new film, Brighton Rock. Immediately I feel in love again with the slick style that MOD's has to offer. The movie left me obsessing about suits and I knew I had to buy one… or two. After searching the market to see what was on offer I came to a conclusion that in my price bracket I would be unable to purchase a suit as fitting and overall amazing as Sam Riley's (Pinkie in Brighton Rocks). After that I decided to source out charity shops in wealthy areas in North London. In the end I found two suits. An Aquascutum and a Cerruti, both 100% wool.

Both suit jackets had four buttons on the cuff emerging from buttonholes, not just stitched on. A decent sized lapel hole, pockets with flaps not slits and hand stitching on the collar.

The trousers have pleated fronts with four pleats not just two (a very good signs that a suit is expensive). I ended up spending just £70, probably saving myself hundreds of pounds if not thousands. Since then I have been going to different wealthy areas and finding amazing garments that quite easily work with the current trends while saving big bucks on big labels.
