The quintessentially British label, Daks, did not disappoint.

As the world of fashion continues to strive for the next new style and interpretation of trend it was refreshing to see a brand stay true to its roots and deliver what can only be described as a typically ‘English’ collection.

Originally a bespoke tailoring factory specialising in menswear; this heritage shone through with classic cuts and cloths being totally revived to present a modern and updated look. The inspiration for this collection was the era of the 1940’s, a time when women dressed to perfection. There was a certain standard of dress and this was reflected in the pristine style simulated from that period.

The various themes running through the collection were all tied in with the tonal and sophisticated colour palette of strong winter whites, luxuriant blacks, misty greys, navy and camel all highlighted with insignia of reds and berry.

The British checks and woollen cloths were key and covered both contemporary and classic silhouettes. Checks were seen in tailored city-shorts, cropped, narrow trousers, and neat, slim-line coats.

There was a strong focus on outwear with classic styles such as the trench, duffel and pea coat fabricated in tweeds, wool cashmere and padded nylon.  Chunky knits also featured.

More directional were quilted capes – capes have cropped up in a few collections so far, and an all in one boiler suit with matching helmet.

Daks’ renowned tailoring skills were certainly at its highest in this classic collection
