Updesign is a fashion importer in London (nearest station Aldgate East); the company has been in business for over 10 years and is looking to expand.
We are currently looking for an experienced (minimum 3 years experience) ladies jersey designer to work full time on our own label and high street store ranges. Our customers include Jane Norman, Interancionale, Krisp, New Look and many smaller retailers across UK and Europe.
Ideally from a supplier background you will have experience in clear sketch and spec designs that can be emailed to Far East factories for production of 1st samples. Sketches can be hand drawn or cadded and put onto excel specification sheets but must be clear and easily understandable. You will need to know fabrics, construction and fit of the jersey product. Your handwriting needs to be young and fashionable with a commercial eye. You need to be a good communicator as you will liaise with factories and be expected to attend customer meetings that often involve presentations of trends and product.
You need to have experience of on Photo shop and illustrator.
It will be an advantage to have experience in making 1st paper patterns for UK factories to follow.
You will work under the Head of Design with a lot of input from the company Director so a sociable, polite easy going personality is a must.

Hours of work will be 9am to 5:30pm or 9:30am to 6pm but like any position in this industry you may find you work later or earlier when required.

Salary is dependent on experience.
