Fashion in the recession – opinions please….

I am a final year Fashion Design student writing my dissertation on how the fashion industry has been affected by the recession and what the future holds.

Opinions welcomed from everyone… designers, buyers, suppliers, retailers and consumers ….

- How you have been affected by the recession?

- How do you intend to buy/spend now we are exiting the recession?

I think I am always affected by fashion trend. When the trend of recession comes again, I quickly go to check my wardrobe. And I even find older clothes of my Mom. Although they are outdated, they still provides me with some inspiration. I think sometimes wigs uk could also make me stylish. I think fashion only reveals the deep feeling in our mind.

when i am fed up i dont care about fashion and just grab anything from the wardrobe. the recession is bad and i wonder when it will be over. i dont think its over yet but teh summer will be better and then there's the olympics in 2012 and that will keep us all going.

I think following your own passion is the most important, set-backs/obstacles like money matters shouldn't bother you at all if you are serious about your own career path. moreover, recession is not forever, many other people are coming across this period of bad times too.....

As a retailer I think people are still buying key items of clothing or saving.
You have to remember in general most people are no affected directly with the recession, most still have the same jobs and work for the same money (perhaps some over time if they work in a demanding company) so their money remains unchanged.

Those people who want designer will always want designer as they will believe it is worth the money and save. Those who are more high street buyers will still buy from the high street but perhaps buy their basics in primark etc.

People still want to look and feel good, no matter what the recession brings.
